COURSES IN THE UK
The British Society of Master Glass Painters
Member of the
Committee of International Guild of Glass Artists

North Lights teaches at numerous local colleges across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and other close-by counties. The programmes vary from year to year, depending on the number of private commissions underway. Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire are the main areas of stained glass courses. Local colleges tend to favour courses between 10 - 12 weeks for beginners. Occasionally, an accredited course of 20 - 30 weeks with assessment, examination and a certificate is available. North Lights Stained Glass is equipped and qualified to cater for all of these requirements. Details of college courses are at the bottom of this page.

Studio:
In addition to College courses, there has been a growing demand for specialized workshops. For the last few years, the Home Studio has hosted periodic Fusing, Slumping and Mosaic 2-day workshops. Whenever there are 4-5 people interested, we negotiate a suitable date and meet up at the Studio. The photographs in this section, are from a number of Workshops over the last couple of years. Plans to run a new Painting and Firing Workshop, are also in hand.

For the dedicated stained glass enthusiasts, there is a further option of joining Weekly Home Studio Classes of max. 5 people at any one class.

Occasionally we are asked to tailor make Individual Residential Courses for people from further away. Self-catering accommodation is available, as we own the cottage next door as well, so the morning walk to the Studio is never far.

Enquiries for classes and Workshops are always welcome.

Brian, a university lecturer from South Africa, came for a week's residential course at the Studio in 2002 with his wife Liz. He designed and completed his very first panel during this time.
Brian's panel christened "Cyril".

This is "Charlie's" second panel, all in copper foil. She wants to incorporate it into a larger leaded panel. I have named it "Charlie's Angel (-fish)". Completed in April 2003
